The Indian Air Force’s Sarang Helicopter Display Team has showcased its flying prowess over the historic Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, creating a striking fusion of India’s aviation excellence and Egypt’s timeless heritage.

The aerial display, featuring a four-helicopter formation of the indigenously designed Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, was described by the IAF as a symbol of precision, discipline and the enduring bonds of friendship between the two nations.

The Pyramids of Giza provided a spectacular backdrop as the Sarang team executed its meticulously choreographed manoeuvres.

The IAF noted that the performance beautifully combined India’s flying capabilities with Egypt’s cultural grandeur, reinforcing the spirit of camaraderie and cooperation between the two countries.

Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command, visited the Sarang Display Team during their participation in Egypt.

He interacted with the contingent, exchanged mementoes and acknowledged the team’s role in representing India on the global stage. The occasion was marked by discussions that highlighted the importance of strengthening bonds and building friendships through such international engagements.

The Sarang team arrived in Egypt to participate in the second edition of the El Alamein International Air Show, held from 8 to 10 September at El Alamein International Airport. The Ministry of Defence emphasised that the team’s participation marks another significant milestone in the Indian Air Force’s international engagements, reflecting the growing defence and diplomatic ties between India and Egypt.

The Sarang team is the world’s only five-helicopter display team. Known for its demanding formation manoeuvres, close-proximity flying and synchronised aerial sequences, the team continues to demonstrate professionalism and skill.

Flying the ALH Dhruv, which is indigenously designed and manufactured, the display also highlights the capabilities of India’s aerospace industry and its growing stature in the global defence sector.

The Ministry of Defence further stated that the display underscores not only the exceptional discipline and expertise of the pilots but also the strength of India’s indigenous aviation technology.

The Sarang team’s presence in Egypt adds a distinctive dimension to the Air Show, while reinforcing India’s commitment to international cooperation and showcasing its defence capabilities to a global audience.
