China's growing military strength, opposite Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh have been evident in recent years. There are now signs of a military buildup opposite Lipulekh Pass, on the northeastern tip of Uttarakhand, in the India-Nepal-China tri-junction.

According to recent intelligence reports, the People's Liberation Army has built a helipad close to the pass and also, installed two surveillance cameras, a Long Range Reconnaissance and Observation System (LORROS) and a solar panel. 

Deeper inside, in Pingchuan in Gansu, the People's Liberation Army has built an army aviation base. The new base has 20 parking hangers and also, maintenance hangers. Medium lift helicopters for the local army aviation brigade have also been spotted. 

Meanwhile, the PLA has received the last batch of S-400 air defence systems from Russia. The Chinese have six systems and one has been deployed near the China-Pakistan border in Xuar or Sinkiang, near the Pakistan border for trials and testing. India has also signed a deal with the Russians for the S-400 for the Indian Air Force.
