Police in the districts bordering Telangana and Chhattisgarh are on extra alert these days. Amid the recent encounters between Maoists and Greyhounds, the intolerance suggests a revenge attack by the left-wing extremists in Telangana.

On Monday, in Mulugu and Bhadradri kothagudem districts, alert security forces recovered IEDs and an ammunition dump kept for targeting police personnel.

According to Mulugu Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh Patil, “Top Maoist leader Bade Chokkarao alias Damodar under the direction of the JMWP (Jayashankar, Mulugu, Warangal and Peddapalli) Divisional Committee secretary Kankanala Rajireddy Venkanna, Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, Muchaki Ungal alias Raghu alias Sudhakar the members of Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur committee Kovvasi Ganga alias Mahesh and Sodi Kosi alias Jhansi and other Dalam members with arms have combined and conspired a plan intending to kill the police party coming for combing the area.”

The Maoists had kept some explosives hidden in the reserve forest of Dodla village of Eturnagaram Mandal.

Based on credible information, police along with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers, and a Bomb Disposal (BD) Team, went to the dense forest in Dodla area and conducted a search.

“While checking the area with the BD team, on finding a suspicious location of a duct in the bushes of the trees, the police party excavated the area with spades and crowbars and found a brown bucket,” informed the Mulugu SP .

The police team found ten gelatine sticks, ten detonators, three Claymore mines, five couplings, 33 live SLR rounds, one fired SLR round, one fired AK-47 round, one battery, one wire bundle 100 metres and two kg of nails from the spot. The CRPF recovered and destroyed one pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED) of 3KG.

It should also be noted that there have been several incidents where innocent people and cattle have died due to the explosion of landmines set up by the government-banned Maoist party.

In March 2019, Soyam Pentayya, a resident of Mukunur Palem, was killed in a landmine blast planted by Maoists.

Police have advised people roaming in the area to be vigilant and be careful not to fall prey to landmines set up by the Maoists.
