Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday reaffirmed that India and Israel will continue to strengthen their bonds.

His remarks came in a post on X, where he re-shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message about their recent conversation. Modi had informed that the two leaders discussed further strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership and reviewed the situation in West Asia.

Netanyahu wrote, “Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Together we continue to strengthen the bond between Israel and India.” His statement highlighted the personal rapport between the two leaders and the strategic depth of the bilateral relationship.

The telephonic conversation between Modi and Netanyahu took place on Thursday. It focused on reviewing and expanding bilateral ties, with discussions centred on deepening cooperation across multiple sectors and addressing regional developments.

The Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the details during the bi-weekly press briefing in New Delhi on Friday. He noted that the call was initiated by the Israeli side and received by Prime Minister Modi.

Jaiswal emphasised that the leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the friendship and partnership across various sectors. He underlined the robust framework of the India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership, which has become a defining feature of their relations.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both leaders reviewed sustained progress in bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation for mutual benefit. Their conversation also included an exchange of views on recent developments in West Asia, with both leaders agreeing to remain in close contact.

This dialogue followed a previous telephonic discussion in March, when Modi and Netanyahu had spoken about the regional situation. The continuity of such exchanges reflects the importance both nations place on maintaining regular communication amid evolving regional dynamics.

Economic and diplomatic ties between India and Israel continue to show strong momentum. In July, the two countries concluded the second round of negotiations for a proposed Free Trade Agreement. The negotiations aim for an early, balanced, and comprehensive economic pact that will strengthen trade, investment, and economic ties.

Highlighting the broader scope of bilateral relations, Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar remarked in June that ties remain on an “amazing trajectory” despite regional conflicts. He pointed to expanding cooperation in defence, infrastructure, finance, and trade as evidence of the resilience and growth of the partnership. Azar stressed that bilateral ties have consistently strengthened over the past three years, with both countries deepening engagement across multiple sectors.

The Special Strategic Partnership between India and Israel now encompasses defence, technology, innovation, and economic collaboration. It reflects a shared vision to advance mutual prosperity and contribute to regional stability.

The latest conversation between Modi and Netanyahu underscores the determination of both governments to sustain momentum in their partnership and to navigate regional complexities together.
