The Indian Air Force (IAF) has evolved into an exceptional, capable, network-centric and multi-domain force over its 94-year history, ranking among the finest air forces globally, according to Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, PTI reported.

Addressing the 94th Air Force Day celebrations at Hindan Air Base in Ghaziabad, the Air Chief said the force remains fully alert, committed and prepared to tackle any future challenge. He stressed that the IAF’s operational capabilities continue to strengthen and are advancing in the right direction.

Highlighting the evolving global security environment, Air Chief Marshal Singh noted that recent conflicts across various regions have reinforced the importance of air power as a primary instrument for safeguarding a nation's interests and strategic objectives.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said the IAF demonstrated the speed and effectiveness of its combat operations, underlining the force’s readiness and ability to respond rapidly when required.

The Air Chief paid tribute to air warriors who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation, acknowledging their contribution to the IAF’s legacy and operational success.

He reaffirmed that the force would spare no effort in meeting, and surpassing, the expectations placed upon it, emphasising that preparedness and operational effectiveness remain central to its mission.

With his retirement scheduled for 31 October, Air Chief Marshal Singh described leading the IAF as the greatest privilege of his career and said serving as Chief of the Air Staff had been a matter of immense pride and personal fortune.

The Air Force Day celebrations featured a ceremonial parade and a showcase of some of the IAF’s most significant combat assets. The event was attended by the three service chiefs, senior military leadership and several former IAF chiefs.

Adding a ceremonial touch to the proceedings, Air Chief Marshal Singh arrived at the parade venue in a vintage car from the 1960s while three helicopters flew overhead in the ‘Dhwaj’ formation.

A static display on the air base tarmac included Rafale, Su-30MKI and Jaguar fighter aircraft, alongside Light Combat Helicopter Prachand and Dhruv helicopters. Critical weapons and air defence systems were also exhibited, highlighting the breadth of the IAF’s combat and support capabilities.

The celebrations reflected the IAF’s continuing transition towards an increasingly integrated and technology-driven force, capable of operating across multiple domains while maintaining a high state of readiness in a rapidly changing security landscape.
