Telangana government has launched a crackdown against 40 Maoists at large in the state's villages and according to police, over 3,000 personnel have been given the task of searching and nabbing down those Maoists. The police have claimed that these Maoists are scattered across various villages in the eastern part of Telangana and spreading propaganda about village lands.

Bhadradri Kothagudem district Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Dutt said that almost 40 Maoists are roaming in villages like Karakagudem, Edulla Bayyaram, Gundala, and Manuguru, and they are engaged in spreading malicious propaganda about regional lands. He also revealed that this gang of Maoists is being led by notorious Maoist leaders Haribhushan, Damodar, Lacchanna, Reena, Rajireddy alias Venkanna, Bhadru, Mangu, and Manglu.

Dutt further said that over 3,000 policemen have been deployed across all the suspected villages to nab the Maoists at large. The policemen are sweeping through the regional forests in order to crackdown at potential hideouts.

"Close to 3,000 policemen are searching the entire forest area. Since almost one week, wall posters with photos of Maoists are being spread in the area," he added.

While giving the brief on the large-scale manhunt, the SP added that anyone who gives specific and accurate information about the hideouts or the Maoists will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh. He also stressed that the personal details of the informants will be kept a secret.
