BEL Secures ₹633 Crore Defence Electronics Contract From Cochin Shipyard

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, announced on 22 October 2025 that it has received a significant order worth ₹633 crore from Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
The contract encompasses the supply of cutting-edge defence electronic systems for CSL's ongoing naval shipbuilding programmes, marking another milestone in India’s pursuit of technological self-reliance under the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.
The agreement includes the provision of advanced sensors, weapon equipment, fire control systems, and sophisticated communication devices.
These systems will enhance the operational readiness, situational awareness, and strike efficiency of the naval platforms being developed by CSL. BEL’s expertise in indigenously designed and manufactured equipment ensures the integration of highly reliable and secure technologies across critical maritime systems.
For CSL, this partnership further strengthens its capacity to deliver state-of-the-art warships and support vessels to the Indian Navy. As India’s largest shipbuilding and repair facility and the only shipyard capable of constructing aircraft carriers, CSL’s collaboration with BEL underscores the synergy between India’s premier defence production institutions.
This new order continues BEL’s strong growth momentum in 2025. Earlier in October, the company had announced orders worth ₹592 crore for various defence electronic systems, demonstrating steady demand for its indigenous technologies across the armed services.
The latest order from CSL further reinforces BEL’s position as a cornerstone of India’s defence electronics ecosystem and a key enabler of maritime modernisation.
