Andhra Pradesh has secured a major manufacturing investment victory after three South Korean automotive component suppliers to Hyundai and Kia chose Anantapur for their expansion plans, committing a combined ₹1,614 crore to new production facilities.

The decision represents a significant success for the state's investment-attraction strategy and comes at the expense of Tamil Nadu, which had also been actively engaging with the companies as part of efforts to strengthen its well-established automotive manufacturing ecosystem.

Hwashin, Seoyon and Iwamet have signed memorandums of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish manufacturing operations in the Anantapur automotive cluster, further reinforcing the region's growing role in India's automotive supply chain.

Among the three investors, Hwashin will make the largest commitment, investing ₹850 crore in its proposed facility. The project is expected to generate around 100 jobs.

Seoyon has pledged an investment of ₹514 crore and is expected to create 918 jobs, making it the largest contributor to employment among the new projects.

Iwamet will invest ₹250 crore in its manufacturing unit, with the facility projected to create approximately 400 jobs.

Collectively, the three projects will bring ₹1,614 crore in capital investment and create an estimated 1,418 jobs, providing a substantial boost to employment and industrial activity in the region.

The investment commitments followed a visit to South Korea in July by Andhra Pradesh IT, Electronics and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, who held discussions with automotive component manufacturers operating within the Hyundai-Kia supply chain. The engagement included a roundtable meeting with industry participants and was followed by sustained outreach efforts through the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board.

Commenting on the developments, Lokesh said: “During our visit to South Korea, we met automotive component makers from the Hyundai and Kia supply chain and invited them to Andhra Pradesh. Our teams followed up, and today Hwashin, Seoyon and Iwamet have committed significant investments in Anantapur.”

He added: “This reflects the confidence of global investors in Andhra Pradesh. We will support them at every step.”

The new facilities are expected to strengthen Anantapur's position as an emerging automotive manufacturing hub. The district already benefits from its proximity to Kia's manufacturing ecosystem, and the arrival of additional supplier facilities is likely to enhance local component production capabilities, deepen supply-chain integration and support future industrial growth across the region.

The investments also highlight Andhra Pradesh's growing ability to attract global manufacturing capital through targeted international engagement, policy support and industrial infrastructure development, reinforcing its ambitions to become a leading destination for automotive and advanced manufacturing projects in India.
