MEA's Vijay Thakur Singh to meet UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachalet

MEA Secretary (East) Vijay Thakur Singh had on Tuesday responded to Pakistan's allegations against India over Kashmir at the UNHRC, and had called the neighbouring country as "epicentre of terrorism". Singh had responded to Pakistan's statement over Kashmir at UNHRC on Tuesday and had dismissed the charges as "fabricated narrative"

New Delhi: After shaming Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for its “fabricated narrative” over Kashmir, a high-level Indian delegation, led by MEA Secretary (East) Vijay Thakur Singh held a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on Thursday.

The Indian delegation met Bachelet to brief her about the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We briefed the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights about Pakistan’s support to terrorism & their continued efforts to destroy the situation in Jammu & Kashmir through terrorism," Singh said after the meeting.

On Tuesday, MEA Secretary (East) Vijay Singh gave a strong rebuttal to Pakistan’s allegations against India over the Kashmir issue at the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Singh responded to Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s statement calling for a UN probe into India’s move to abrogate Article 370 which ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Qureshi had also expressed fears of “genocide” in Kashmir in his speech at the UNHRC.
