When Sikhs worldwide are celebrating the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, Pakistan’s hypocrisy has been exposed

NEW DELHI: Pakistan stand exposed as it cannot even guarantee the safety and security of the Sikh community on its soil despite PM Imran Khan claims to guarantee rights of all minorities in his country.

When Sikhs worldwide are celebrating the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, Pakistan’s hypocrisy has been exposed. Pakistan’s failure to protect Sikh rights will cast a shadow on Katarpur corridor.

Behind Pakistan's tom-tomming on Kartarpur Corridor, lies the reality of plight of Pakistani Sikhs who can't even safely practice their faith. However Sikh extremists from Sikhs for Justice Forum continue to be encouraged by ISI to protest against India.

Be it Hazara Shias, or Ahmadis, or Christians or Hindus or Sikhs, the repeated instances of violence and discrimination against them demonstrate that Pakistan remains the bastion of religious extremists and sectarian groups, with full patronage of Military. This mullah-military nexus is what is the current reality of Pakistan is.

Protests are being planned in Pakistan against abduction and forcible marriage of a Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur to a Muslim boy and conversion to Islam in Pakistan on Saturday at the Governor House while an international conference related to KartarpurCorridor is scheduled. The Muslim boy is a member of JuD.

From 23% in 1947, Pakistan’s minorities constitute a mere 3-4% of the population, according to Farahnaz Ispahani in her book Purifying the Land of the Pure: Pakistan’s Religious Minorities.

She has blamed Zia-ul-Haq, the Pak army general who was the country’s 6th president, for creating a militant group to target Shias, Ahmadis, Hindus and Christians.

Meanwhile Pakistan has expressed the inability to construct a proposed 300-metre bridge from zero-line to Kartarpur citing paucity of time.

Pakistan's technical coordination committee suggested that it will be constructing a service lane to facilitate the pilgrims. The proposed bridge will now be constructed after the celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev's 550th birth anniversary are over.

The Indian government has given a strict deadline to the construction company to complete the Rs 177 crore project by October 30. Indian authorities will also go ahead with the proposed bridge construction over Ravi river.
