ISRO Selects Muks Robotics' SPACEO Prime As Indigenous Humanoid Space Worker Initiative

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has selected Muks Robotics to develop SPACEO Prime, an indigenous humanoid robot designed for space applications.
Described by the company as the world's first humanoid space worker, SPACEO Prime is being developed to extend human capability beyond Earth and support future space exploration activities in challenging environments.
The project marks a significant milestone for Muks Robotics, which has been working on the SPACEO concept since 2021 under the vision of founder Dr Mukesh Bangar. The company has long advocated the use of humanoid robots not only on Earth but also in extra-terrestrial missions.
SPACEO Prime is a bipedal humanoid platform engineered to operate autonomously in extreme conditions. The robot is being designed to assist with tasks that may be hazardous, repetitive or difficult for astronauts, helping reduce human risk during space missions.
The initiative aligns with the broader global effort to deploy advanced robotics in space operations, where humanoid systems can perform maintenance, inspection and support functions while complementing human crews.
Muks Robotics views SPACEO Prime as more than a robotic platform, describing it as the beginning of a new generation of machines intended to support humanity's expansion beyond Earth.
The development also highlights India's growing capabilities in robotics, artificial intelligence and space technology, reinforcing the country's ambition to create advanced indigenous systems for future space exploration programs.
