Goodluck Defence, a subsidiary of Goodluck India Limited, has secured a Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) certificate from the Ministry of Defence for the production of 155mm M107 Ready-to-Fill Artillery Shells.

This milestone strengthens the company’s role in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and positions it to participate in future procurement programs under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Ltd (GDAL), based in Ghaziabad, has successfully cleared stringent tests including visual examination, gauging, dimensional inspection, and dynamic testing for the supply of 155mm M107 Ready-to-Fill Artillery Shells. These shells, assembled with recovery plugs, are critical components of modern artillery systems and require precision engineering and rigorous quality assurance.

The certification confirms GDAL as an approved supplier to the Government of India. This enables the company to bid for defence procurement contracts, subject to tender conditions and contractual awards. It represents a significant step forward in expanding India’s indigenous defence production capabilities.

The company currently has an annual manufacturing capacity of 150,000 artillery shells, which is being expanded to 4,00,000 shells per annum to meet rising demand. This expansion will allow Goodluck Defence to cater not only to domestic requirements but also to international markets, strengthening India’s position as a reliable global defence supplier.

Founded in 1986, Goodluck India Limited has diversified operations across defence, aerospace, automotive, railways, solar energy, and infrastructure.

It operates six advanced manufacturing facilities in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, with a combined production capacity of 5,00,000 metric tonnes per annum. The company serves over 600 clients in more than 100 countries, reflecting its global footprint and technological capabilities.

Chairman Mahesh Chandra Garg emphasised that the DGQA certification demonstrates the company’s ability to meet stringent technical and operational requirements. He noted that this recognition enhances Goodluck Defence’s credentials as a trusted supplier and supports India’s vision of self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

He added that the milestone will open new opportunities in upcoming procurement programs while reinforcing confidence in the company’s manufacturing excellence.

The certification also aligns with India’s broader defence modernisation goals. The 155mm calibre remains the global standard for artillery systems, widely used across NATO and allied platforms. By qualifying as a supplier of these shells, Goodluck Defence strengthens India’s ability to meet both domestic and international demand for critical ammunition components.

This achievement underscores the growing role of private-sector companies in India’s defence ecosystem. It highlights the government’s push to diversify supply chains and reduce dependence on imports, while encouraging indigenous firms to scale up production and integrate advanced technologies.
