One Non-Local Worker Killed, Another Injured In Terrorist Attack In Kulgam

One non-local worker was killed and another injured after terrorists opened fire in the Kellam area of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, according to police officials.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers. The injured worker was rushed for medical treatment, officials confirmed.

The deceased labourer was identified as being from Chhattisgarh. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha strongly condemned the attack and directed security forces to intensify counter-terror operations.

In a statement posted on X, Sinha said he had spoken with Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and senior security officials. He emphasised that operations must be stepped up to eliminate those responsible for the attack.

Sinha described the incident as a cowardly act and reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring justice. He noted that the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces had already cordoned off the area and launched an operation to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Lieutenant Governor also confirmed that another injured labourer from Chhattisgarh had been taken to hospital for urgent medical care.

He expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He added that the Jammu and Kashmir administration and the entire nation stand firmly with the families affected by the attack.

Further details are awaited as the search operation continues in the Kellam area of Kulgam.

The Field Marshal’s Bleeding ‘Jugular Vein’

by Nilesh Kunwar

The Kashmir Mirage

Speaking on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day charade last year, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir tried to play Nostradamus by saying, “Without any doubt, Kashmir will be free one day and part of Pakistan as per the free will and destiny of the people of Kashmir.”

Though the self-appointed Field Marshal’s pompous utterance was pregnant with contradictions, no one cared to point out the same-simply because it’s his wont to speak through his hat.

While addressing the Overseas Pakistani Convention a few months later, he haughtily declared that “Our stance is absolutely clear, it (J&K) was our jugular vein, it will be our jugular vein- we will not forget it.” Today, the Field Marshal who is heading Pakistan’s “hybrid regime” must be realising that instead of worrying about the ‘jugular vein’ called J&K that his army has failed to seize despite having waged war- not once but twice, the need to arrest burgeoning anti-Pakistan sentiments in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK) is more critical.

Hence it must be indeed very embarrassing for a person who just a year ago waxed eloquent about Kashmiris joining Pakistan as per their “free will” to be using brute force including live firing to quell peaceful protests by residents of Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK), which Islamabad ironically refers to as “Azad (independent) Kashmir.” And this is what makes Field Marshal Munir’s prognosis about Kashmiris wanting to become a part of Pakistan, rib-tickling.

‘Azad’ Kashmir’s Reality

Knowing that its claim to J&K lacks substance, Pakistan invests heavily in trying to peddle propaganda of excesses in J&K while portraying PoK as a place where the people are completely free and content. In 2011, Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai, an American citizen of Kashmiri origin running Kashmiri American Council in the US pleaded guilty to receiving USD 4 million from Pakistan army’s spy agency Inter Services Intelligence for influencing lawmakers into supporting Islamabad’s Kashmir narrative.

A decade later, cash-strapped Islamabad covertly organised a fully paid up trip for US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar who (expectedly) reciprocated this magnanimity by making pro-Pakistan and anti-India statements. However, with the people of PoK repeatedly taking to the streets since 2024 demanding basic facilities, an end to exploitation of natural resources and political manipulation by Islamabad to subjugate locals, the illusion of idyllic conditions and prosperity in PoK conjured by Islamabad has collapsed like a house of cards.

Rawalpindi’s Role

Thanks to its high handedness and perceptible lack of concern for locals, the Pakistan army was never popular in PoK and this isn’t an unsubstantiated allegation. After the massive 2005 earthquake that hit the area, Human Rights Watch (HRW) compiled a report in 2006 titled “With Friends Like These…” Though two decades old, this report is important as HRW has itself observed that “The earthquake put the international spotlight on Azad Kashmir (PoK) for the first time. Previously, attention had been almost wholly on Jammu and Kashmir state in India, which since 1989 has endured a brutal insurgency and counterinsurgency.

Its title is inspired by a Muzaffarabad resident’s remark made to HRW that “Pakistan (army) says they are our friends and India is our enemy. I agree India is our enemy, but with friends like these, who needs enemies?” And this observation aptly sums up the overall situation prevailing in PoK. Some specific instances mentioned in the report that expose the sorry state of affairs in PoK:

• Many Kashmiris told HRW that the Pakistani military kept a close watch on the population to ensure political compliance and control and this was facilitated by placement of military installations frequently in close proximity to populated areas.

• In the context of a military presence, that was more abuser than protector, and domineering Pakistani political control, the failure of the authorities to respond quickly and more humanely to the after effects of the earthquake in PoK came as little surprise.

• The Pakistani government in Islamabad, the Pakistani army and the Pakistani intelligence services (Inter-Services Intelligence, ISI) control all aspects of political life in PoK. Arbitrary arrest and detention and torture at the hands of the Pakistani military and the police; and discrimination against refugees from J&K state is commonplace.

• For those expressing independent or unpopular political views, there is a pervasive fear of Pakistani military and intelligence services-and of militant organizations acting at their behest or independently. The HRW report also noted that the 2005 earthquake exposed “The poor response of the Pakistani government and military to the (2005) earthquake, and the attendant further loss of life...” and a few instances recorded in the HRW report that buttresses this observation:

• In the first seventy-two hours after the earthquake, thousands of Pakistani troops stationed in PoK prioritised the evacuation of their own personnel over providing relief to desperate civilians.

• The international media filmed Pakistani troops standing by and refusing to help because they had “no orders” to do so even as locals attempted to dig out those still alive, sending a chilling message of indifference from Islamabad.

Complete Immunity

The HRW report mentions that it “knows of no cases in which members of military and paramilitary security and intelligence agencies have been prosecuted or even disciplined for acts of torture or mistreatment.” It has also documented “incidents of torture by the ISI, and by PoK police acting at the ISI’s and the army’s behest” that have not been investigated. Such a serious lack of accountability has made the army law unto itself and this is the prime reason for its cavalier ways.

Another thing that has enraged locals is the creation of terrorist infrastructure in PoK by the Pakistan army and luring Kashmiri youth to pick up guns and fight its proxy war in J&K. That’s why Sardar Aman Khan, a leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) spearheading the ongoing peaceful protests, mocked the establishment for proscribing this grass root rights organisation by saying, "They say they were terrorists. Look, it was the Pakistan Army that put guns into the hands of Kashmiris. Kashmiris had guns because the Pakistan Army gave them those guns. The entire Pakistan Army did it. And today, they have the audacity to call us terrorists!"

Reality Check

It would do the self-appointed field marshal a lot of good if he stops hallucinating and accepts ground realities. The ongoing protests in PoK rubbish his puerile prognosis that Kashmir will one day become “part of Pakistan as per the free will and destiny of the people of Kashmir.”

Furthermore, having failed not once but thrice, threatening to fight ten more wars for Kashmir in order to secure what he perceives to be Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” he needs to first prevent PoK from breaking away. The first of the ten wars promised by Field Marshal Munir has started – unfortunately, it’s not against India to wrest control of Kashmir, but being waged against the defenceless people of PoK.

What could be more embarrassing than this?

Interpol Red Corner Notice Issued Against Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorist Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo In 2013 Tarzoo Attack Case

The State Investigation Agency of Jammu and Kashmir Police has successfully secured an Interpol Red Corner Notice against Hizbul Mujahideen militant Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo in connection with the Tarzoo attack of 2013.

This notice will enable international law enforcement agencies to locate, detain, and initiate extradition proceedings against him so that he can face trial in India.

The case relates to the ambush on 26 April 2013 at Peer Mohalla, Hygam, Sopore, where militants armed with automatic weapons attacked a police party. Four J&K police personnel were killed in one of the most serious strikes against security forces during that period. Initially registered at Tarzoo police station, the case was transferred to the SIA in 2024 for a comprehensive investigation.

The SIA carried out an extensive probe involving evidence collection, witness examination, and reconstruction of the conspiracy. Fresh evidence led to the addition of more offences, and a detailed chargesheet was filed in July 2024 against six accused persons.

Two of them, Tariq Ahmad Mir of Handwara and Qayoom Najar of Sopore, were killed in encounters with security forces. Three others—Javid Ahmad Mattoo, Rouf Najar, and Ahmadullah Malla—were arrested and are currently facing trial. The sixth and main accused, Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, absconded and is believed to have exfiltrated to Pakistan.

Kandoo has been an active member and commander of Hizbul Mujahideen since 2010. His sustained involvement in terrorist activities led to his designation as an individual terrorist by the Government of India in October 2022. The SIA investigation conclusively established his central role in the Hygam attack and revealed his wider involvement in militant operations.

Beyond this case, Kandoo is wanted in at least ten more terror-related cases. These include attacks and targeted killings that caused the deaths of more than fifteen persons, arms and ammunition smuggling, and narco-terror financing. Despite persistent efforts by law enforcement agencies, he managed to evade arrest for years.

The issuance of the Interpol Red Corner Notice against Kandoo highlights the SIA’s growing capability in handling complex terror investigations. It demonstrates their ability to bring long-pending cases to conclusion, pursue fugitives across international jurisdictions, and leverage global policing mechanisms to ensure accountability for acts of terrorism.

The SIA has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist ecosystems, pursuing absconding terrorists and their support networks, and ensuring that perpetrators of terrorism are brought to justice through all available legal and international mechanisms.

Lashkar Terrorist Neutralised In Shopian After Prolonged Encounter

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district have eliminated a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist during a prolonged anti-terror operation.

The encounter took place in the Meemandar area, a cluster of seven villages in south Kashmir, where security forces had been conducting a search operation since 3 July.

The operation was launched after intelligence inputs confirmed the presence of terrorists in the dense orchards of Meemandar. The terrain, with its thick foliage, provided natural cover and made surveillance challenging, forcing the forces to maintain a tight cordon for several days.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the success of the operation with a statement on X, declaring, “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide! One Lashkar terrorist neutralised by SOG Shopian, in a Jt Op, along with RR and CRPF.”

The joint team comprised the Special Operations Group of Shopian Police, the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and 44 Rashtriya Rifles, and personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force. Together, they maintained a layered cordon around the area for five days, during which intermittent exchanges of fire took place between the trapped terrorists and the security forces.

Officials had earlier identified the trapped terrorists as Latif and Zakir, both residents of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Zakir has been associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba since 2024, while Latif joined the outfit last year. Their presence in Shopian highlighted the continuing attempts by the banned organisation to expand its influence in south Kashmir despite sustained counter-insurgency operations.

The elimination of one terrorist marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing operation. Security forces are continuing their efforts to neutralise the remaining threats in the area, ensuring that escape routes remain blocked and surveillance is maintained.

This encounter comes against the backdrop of heightened counter-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir, where security agencies have intensified their focus on dismantling local terror modules while simultaneously preventing infiltration attempts along the Line of Control.

The successful neutralisation in Shopian underscores the coordinated strategy of the Army, police, and paramilitary forces in tackling terrorism in the region. It also demonstrates the effectiveness of prolonged cordon-and-search operations in difficult terrain, where patience and precision are critical to success.

Army Corners Two Lashkar Terrorists In Shopian As Counter-Terror Operation Intensifies

The Army on Saturday launched a major counter-terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district after two local terrorists belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba were cornered in a dense orchard.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team comprising multiple columns of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force laid a tight cordon around the Meemandar area to prevent any escape.

The two trapped terrorists, identified through technical intelligence as Latif and Zakir, opened fire on the approaching security personnel. The Army Jawans retaliated effectively, triggering a fierce gunfight in the thickly vegetated orchard.

Officials confirmed that the Army’s specialised counter-insurgency unit, the Victor Force, has deployed additional personnel to plug all possible escape routes and has illuminated the area to deny the terrorists the advantage of cover.

The summer months pose a particular challenge for such operations, as the heavy foliage offers natural concealment. This makes surveillance difficult and allows trapped terrorists to exploit blind spots in an attempt to break cordons. Security forces are therefore maintaining a layered cordon and using advanced surveillance equipment to ensure no escape is possible.

According to security records, the two terrorists are residents of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Zakir is believed to have been associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba since 2024, while Latif joined the outfit last year. Their presence in Shopian highlights the continuing attempts by the banned organisation to expand its footprint in south Kashmir despite sustained counter-insurgency operations.

The operation in Shopian coincided with another significant development in Poonch district, where the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control. Officials reported that alert troops detected suspicious movement and engaged the infiltrators, forcing them to retreat.

This underscores the dual challenge faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir—neutralising local terrorist modules while simultaneously preventing cross-border infiltration attempts.

The ongoing operation in Shopian reflects the Army’s strategy of combining precise intelligence inputs with rapid deployment of specialised units. The Victor Force, known for its expertise in counter-insurgency, has been instrumental in several high-profile operations in south Kashmir.

Its deployment in Meemandar indicates the seriousness of the threat posed by the trapped terrorists and the determination of security agencies to eliminate them.

Local residents in Shopian have reported heavy movement of security forces and strict cordon measures in adjoining areas. Authorities have urged civilians to remain indoors and cooperate with the forces to ensure their safety. The situation remains tense, with intermittent firing continuing as the forces close in on the orchard hideout.

The broader security context in Jammu and Kashmir shows a pattern of intensified operations in recent weeks. Security agencies have stepped up surveillance along infiltration-prone sectors in Poonch and Rajouri while simultaneously targeting local terrorist networks in south Kashmir.

The dual operations in Shopian and Poonch highlight the coordinated approach of the Army and allied forces in tackling both internal and external threats.

The outcome of the Shopian operation will be closely watched, as the elimination or capture of Latif and Zakir would mark a significant blow to Lashkar-e-Taiba’s local cadre in south Kashmir. For now, the counter-terrorist operation remains underway, with security forces maintaining a tight grip on the situation.

Pakistan Must Stop Backing Cross‑Border Terror — MEA: Indus Waters Treaty Effectively Suspended

India has once again reiterated its uncompromising position on Pakistan’s continued sponsorship of cross‑border terrorism, linking this directly to the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.

At a press conference in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasised that the treaty remains in abeyance and will not be restored until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for terrorism.

He underlined that India’s stance on the matter is consistent and firmly rooted in its national security concerns.

Jaiswal also condemned the recent Pakistani airstrikes inside Afghanistan, which resulted in heavy civilian casualties, including women and children. He noted that India had already expressed its condolences for the loss of innocent lives and reaffirmed its strong support for Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He stressed that India continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, including the supply of medicines and the implementation of development projects aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Afghans.

The spokesperson’s remarks came against the backdrop of a joint statement issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi following their bilateral talks. The two leaders delivered a sharp condemnation of cross‑border terrorism originating from Pakistan, demanding immediate global action to dismantle state‑supported safe havens and financing networks.

They specifically named Lashkar‑e‑Tayyiba, Jaish‑e‑Mohammad, Al-Qaeda and ISIS as entities requiring urgent and concerted international measures. Both leaders stressed that the global community must act decisively to disrupt the nexus between terror financing and transnational crime, and to halt the cross‑border movement of terrorists.

The Pakistani military strikes in Afghanistan targeted the eastern provinces of Paktia, Paktika and Kunar, causing widespread devastation. According to Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson of the Taliban‑led Afghan government, the attacks resulted in the deaths of 36 civilians, including women and children, while 163 others sustained injuries.

He further reported that three residential houses were completely destroyed during the strikes. These figures highlight the severe humanitarian toll of Pakistan’s actions and reinforce India’s call for accountability.

India’s position reflects a broader strategic posture that links regional stability, resource management and international cooperation directly to the issue of state‑sponsored terrorism.

By maintaining the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and intensifying diplomatic coordination with partners such as Japan, New Delhi is signalling that terrorism cannot be compartmentalised or ignored in the conduct of international relations.

The insistence on credible and irreversible action from Pakistan underscores India’s determination to ensure that counter‑terrorism commitments are not reduced to rhetoric but translated into tangible outcomes.

India Tears Apart Pakistan’s 'Fitna al Hindustan' As A Hate Factory At UN

India has launched a sharp diplomatic offensive against Pakistan at the United Nations, exposing Islamabad’s latest propaganda narrative of “Fitna al Hindustan” as nothing more than state-sponsored disinformation.

Speaking at a United Nations Security Council session on Afghanistan, India’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, accused Pakistan of deliberately manufacturing falsehoods to deflect blame for its internal crises and regional destabilisation.

Pakistan had previously issued official notifications instructing its agencies to label militant groups operating within its own territory as “Fitna al Hindustan”, alleging they were directed by India.

However, no evidence was ever produced to substantiate these claims. Ambassador Harish countered that this was a calculated attempt to deceive both the Pakistani public and the international community.

He described the narrative as “officially sponsored misinformation and disinformation dressed in religious terminology”, designed to sustain hostility against India while distracting citizens from domestic political and economic failures.

The envoy went further, branding Pakistan’s apparatus as “an organised factory of hate”. He argued that the campaign was a deliberate strategy by the Pakistani establishment to divert attention from pressing internal challenges, including constitutional amendments that have entrenched military dominance over civilian institutions.

Ambassador Harish highlighted how Pakistan’s political framework remains deeply compromised by the military’s overarching influence, which continues to undermine democratic governance.

Turning to regional security, India condemned Pakistan’s cross-border military operations, particularly aerial assaults in Afghanistan that have caused significant civilian casualties. Ambassador Harish stressed that “dressing up a massacre as a military operation does not absolve the perpetrator”, adding that killing and maiming civilians cannot be justified as counter-terrorism.

He accused Islamabad of hypocrisy, pointing out that Pakistan espouses lofty principles of international law and Islamic solidarity while simultaneously carrying out airstrikes during the holy month of Ramadan.

The envoy underscored Pakistan’s long-standing record of blaming its neighbours for its own internal shortcomings. This criticism comes amid escalating hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Earlier this year, UN records confirmed that Pakistani airstrikes in Afghan territory killed at least 13 civilians, including women and children, sparking the most intense border confrontation in years. By March, UN documentation revealed that cross-border strikes and subsequent manoeuvres had left 42 civilians dead, 104 wounded, and displaced over 100,000 people from their homes.

Tensions reached a breaking point when Afghan officials alleged that a Pakistani airstrike on a Kabul drug rehabilitation centre caused over 400 fatalities. The UN independently verified at least 269 deaths, underscoring the scale of devastation. Although a brief cessation of hostilities prevented a full-scale war, volatile skirmishes continue along the frontier, keeping the region on edge.

India’s intervention at the UN thus not only dismantled Pakistan’s “Fitna al Hindustan” narrative but also highlighted Islamabad’s broader strategy of exporting instability while masking its own governance failures. By exposing Pakistan’s disinformation campaign as a “factory of hate”, New Delhi reinforced its position that Islamabad must be held accountable for both its internal propaganda and its external aggression.

Operation Sheruwali Enters Twelfth Day In Rajouri’s Manjakote Sector

The joint anti-terror operation codenamed Sheruwali has now entered its twelfth day in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The operation is being conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal.

Security forces continue their efforts to track down suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the region, maintaining a strong cordon and surveillance to prevent any escape.

Personnel have been seen checking the identification cards of travellers and locals while conducting intensive search operations across the area. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of suspected militants in the forested terrain.

The move is aimed at ensuring that the terrorists remain trapped within the designated area while search teams continue their mission to neutralise the threat.

Heavy firing has been reported in the Dorimal forest as the operation enters a crucial phase. The challenging terrain and thick forest cover have added to the complexity of the mission, requiring forces to proceed cautiously while maintaining constant vigilance.

Security agencies are deploying all available resources, including advanced surveillance equipment, to track the movement of the suspected terrorists and eliminate any danger posed by their presence.

The entire region remains under heightened security, with access to certain locations being closely monitored. Officials have confirmed that search operations will continue until the area is fully sanitised and all security concerns are addressed.

The prolonged duration of Operation Sheruwali underscores both the determination of the security forces and the difficulties posed by the rugged terrain and well-prepared militants.

The operation reflects the broader counter-terror strategy in Jammu and Kashmir, where intelligence-led missions are being used to dismantle networks and prevent infiltration across sensitive sectors.

Indian Army And J&K Police Foil Exfiltration Attempt In Uri Sector, Three Apprehended

Indian security forces successfully foiled an exfiltration attempt in Baramulla’s Uri sector, underscoring the continued vigilance along the Line of Control.

The joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police after specific intelligence inputs indicated suspicious movement in the area.

During the cordon and search operation, alert troops intercepted two men from Sopore who were allegedly attempting to cross the border with hostile intent. Their local guide, who was facilitating the attempt, was also apprehended.

The Army confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody during the intelligence-led operation, and further investigations are currently underway to determine the extent of their involvement and possible links to cross-border networks.

In a statement posted on X, the Chinar Corps highlighted the swift action of its personnel, noting that the individuals were apprehended while attempting exfiltration in the Uri sector. The Army emphasised that the operation was conducted with precision and restraint, ensuring the suspects were captured without escalation.

Subsequently, the Army identified one of the apprehended individuals as an intruder from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He was intercepted while attempting to cross the Line of Control and was handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for legal proceedings.

The Army noted that its troops maintained discipline and restraint while challenging the intruder, surgically apprehending him without incident.

This operation reflects the heightened security grid in the Uri sector, which has historically been a sensitive zone for infiltration and exfiltration attempts. The apprehension of suspects from Sopore, along with a PoJK intruder, highlights the continued threat posed by cross-border elements and the importance of intelligence-led coordination between the Army and police forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident also demonstrates the proactive measures being taken to prevent any hostile activity along the Line of Control.

With investigations ongoing, authorities are expected to probe deeper into the motives of the apprehended individuals and their possible connections to wider networks operating across the border.

India Warns Pakistan of Consequences For Sponsorship of Terrorism At UN

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, delivered a strong rebuttal against Pakistan’s continued acts of cross-border aggression during the UN Security Council Open Debate on “Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-centred International System.”

He asserted that Islamabad must accept the consequences of its sponsorship of terrorism, stressing that India has every right to defend itself against such aggression.

Ambassador Parvathaneni highlighted that Pakistan has consistently harboured and harnessed malevolent forces of terrorism, religious extremism, violent radicalism, and anti-India rhetoric since its inception.

He condemned Pakistan’s long-standing policy of “bleeding India with a thousand cuts,” pointing out that this doctrine exposes the hollow nature of Islamabad’s commitment to the UN Charter.

He emphasised that Pakistan’s repeated wars, unprovoked aggression, and sponsorship of terrorism have violated the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peaceful coexistence.

He reiterated India’s call for Pakistan to irrevocably end its support for all forms of terrorism. His remarks came in response to baseless and unwarranted comments made by Pakistan earlier in the week.

India also strongly rejected references to Jammu and Kashmir in a joint statement issued by China and Pakistan, reaffirming that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, clarified that no other country has the locus standi to comment on these territories.

Jaiswal further rejected attempts to legitimise Pakistan’s illegal occupation of territories through projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stated that India resolutely opposes any moves by other countries to reinforce Pakistan’s forcible occupation of Indian sovereign territory, which impinges on India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He noted that this position has been clearly conveyed to both Pakistani and Chinese authorities on multiple occasions.

Ambassador Parvathaneni also reminded the UNSC that Independent India began its journey by facing cross-border aggression from Pakistan, which coveted territories that had legally and irrevocably acceded to India. His remarks underscored India’s consistent position that Pakistan’s actions undermine international peace and security, while also violating the very principles the UN Charter seeks to uphold.

Operation Sheruwali: Terrorist Hideout Busted In Rajouri As Search Enters Third Day

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have busted a terrorist hideout as the search under Operation Sheruwali entered its third consecutive day in Rajouri district.

The operation, launched jointly by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force, has been ongoing since Saturday in the Dorimal-Gambhir Moghla belt following specific intelligence inputs about suspected militant movement.

An encounter broke out on Saturday after contact was established with terrorists around 11:30 am, according to the Army’s White Knight Corps. The initial exchange of fire prompted the forces to expand their cordon-and-search operation across the forested terrain.

Officials suspect the presence of two to three terrorists in the area, and the operation has since been intensified with additional troops inducted to strengthen the cordon.

Armed with drones and sniffer dogs, the joint teams have widened their searches to adjoining areas. Surveillance measures have been put in place to prevent any escape attempts, and the cordon has been reinforced to ensure the suspected militants remain trapped.

The rugged terrain and dense forest cover of Rajouri’s Gambhir Moghla belt have made the operation particularly challenging, but the forces remain determined to flush out the terrorists.

During the course of the operation, a hideout was busted after brief firing. Reports suggest speculative firing was directed towards the hideout before it was stormed. Inside, security forces recovered eatables, cold drinks, water bottles, pickles, clothes, bags and polythene covers, believed to be personal belongings of the terrorists. Blood stains were also found at the site, indicating that militants may have been injured before fleeing or attempting to relocate.

The discovery of the hideout underscores the preparedness of the militants, who had stocked supplies to sustain themselves in the forested terrain.

However, the strong cordon and continuous surveillance have disrupted their plans. The operation remains active, with forces continuing extensive searches to track down the suspects and neutralise the threat.

The busting of the hideout marks a significant breakthrough in Operation Sheruwali, which has already demonstrated the resolve of the security forces to counter militant activity in Rajouri. The ongoing effort reflects the broader counter-terror strategy in Jammu and Kashmir, where intelligence-led operations are being used to dismantle networks and prevent infiltration attempts across the Pir Panjal belt.

Security Forces Corner Terrorists In Rajouri’s Gambir Mughlan Forest

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified a major anti-terror operation in Rajouri’s Gambir Mughlan forest, part of the Pir Panjal belt, where heavily armed terrorists have been cornered.

The breakthrough came on Sunday morning after a massive cordon-and-search operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force.

The operation began the previous day, and by 11:30 AM on Sunday, contact was established with the suspects, according to the Army’s White Knight Corps.

Officials believe that two to three terrorists are trapped within the dense forest belt. To prevent any escape attempts, heavy reinforcements have been rushed to the site, tightening the security grid around the rugged mountainous terrain.

The Gambir Mughlan forest is notorious for its thick cover and difficult geography, which makes search operations particularly challenging for security personnel. The terrain has historically been exploited by terrorists to evade detection, and the current operation reflects the determination of the forces to neutralise such threats.

Local residents have described the scale of the ongoing operation and the difficulties faced by the troops. Strict checkpoints have been set up in adjoining areas, with vehicular and pedestrian movement closely monitored.

Aqib Khan, a resident, noted that security forces have maintained a strong presence since Saturday after receiving intelligence inputs about suspected terrorists. He added that locals are cooperating with the agencies and hoping for a swift return to normalcy.

Mohd Jawed highlighted the challenges posed by the rugged terrain and dense forest cover, which complicate troop movement and search efforts. Another resident, Mohd Zubair, said that villagers learned the operation was launched following intelligence about terrorist movement, and communities nearby are keeping a close watch on developments while hoping for peace.

The Pir Panjal belt, which straddles Rajouri and Poonch districts, has seen heightened terror activity in recent years, with several infiltration attempts and ambushes targeting security forces.

Intelligence agencies have repeatedly warned of attempts by Pakistan-backed groups to revive militancy in this region, exploiting its difficult terrain and proximity to the Line of Control.

The current operation is part of a broader counter-terror grid that has been strengthened after recent encounters in Rajouri and Poonch, where security forces suffered casualties in ambushes. The Gambir Mughlan operation is therefore seen as a critical effort to flush out terrorists and restore confidence among local communities.

The operation was still actively underway at the time of reporting, with joint forces methodically closing in on the holed-up terrorists.

The outcome will be closely watched, as it could mark another significant step in neutralising terrorist presence in the Pir Panjal belt and reinforcing the security grid in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pulwama Attack Mastermind Hamza Burhan Shot Dead In Pakistan‑Occupied Kashmir

Pulwama attack mastermind Hamza Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar or “Doctor,” was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan‑occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). His killing marks a significant blow to cross‑border terror networks, though the identity and motive of the attackers remain unclear.

Hamza Burhan was ambushed in Muzaffarabad, sustaining multiple bullet wounds that led to his death on the spot. Reports suggest he was attacked either outside a local college or while in his office, with gunmen firing at close range.

Local residents reported hearing several gunshots late at night, and his body was later recovered with multiple injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for the killing, and Pakistani authorities have not issued an official statement.

Burhan, originally from Ratnipora in Pulwama district, had travelled to Pakistan in 2017 under the pretext of pursuing higher education. Instead, he joined the banned Al‑Badr outfit and quickly rose to become its operational commander.

He was known for radicalising Kashmiri youth, recruiting militants, and managing weapon supplies. His alias “Doctor” stemmed from his academic cover, which he used to conceal his militant activities. At one point, he even posed as a teacher and principal in Pakistan to mask his identity.

In 2022, the Indian government designated him a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Intelligence agencies described him as a key figure in pushing young people towards militancy through digital radicalisation, using social media platforms to incite violence and recruit operatives. He was also accused of coordinating funding channels and smuggling weapons across the border.

Burhan was deeply implicated in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, one of the deadliest assaults on Indian security forces. On 14 February 2019, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives‑laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy near Lethpora in Pulwama, killing 40 personnel.

The Pakistan‑based Jaish‑e‑Mohammed claimed responsibility, but investigations revealed Burhan’s logistical role in orchestrating the attack. His knowledge of Pulwama’s terrain and networks made him a vital conduit for planning and execution.

Beyond Pulwama, Burhan was linked to grenade attacks, recovery of explosives from overground workers, and training militants in PoJK. Reports also allege that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI provided him with office space and armed guards for protection, underscoring his importance within anti‑India terror infrastructure. His sudden elimination raises questions about internal rivalries, targeted assassinations, or covert operations aimed at dismantling militant leadership.

The killing of Burhan is seen as a major setback for Al‑Badr and affiliated groups, disrupting their recruitment and operational capabilities. For India, his death symbolises a measure of justice for the Pulwama victims, though the broader challenge of militancy in Kashmir persists. Analysts believe his removal could weaken cross‑border networks but caution that other operatives may step in to fill the vacuum.

Security Forces Deliver Decisive Setback To Pakistan-Backed Terror Networks In Jammu And Kashmir

Indian security forces have delivered a decisive setback to Pakistan-backed terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, neutralising several top Jaish-e-Mohammed commanders and dismantling infiltration attempts, cyber modules, and entrenched militant hideouts.

The coordinated operations have sharply reduced cross-border communication and forced terrorists into hiding, signalling a major disruption in their command and control structure.

In recent months, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and central agencies have intensified their anti-terror grid, combining surveillance, intelligence-led strikes, and precision encounters.

This sustained pressure has resulted in the elimination of multiple high-value Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives, including notorious figures such as Adil, a Pakistani national and close associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Saifullah.

Adil, who had evaded capture for over eighteen months while orchestrating attacks from caves and hideouts in Kishtwar, was neutralised in Operation Trashi-1 after a week-long joint effort. His death is seen as a significant weakening of militant networks in the region.

Parallel to ground operations, security forces have foiled infiltration bids along the Line of Control. In Rajouri’s Gambhir sector, troops intercepted heavily armed infiltrators, capturing a Pakistani national identified as Mohammad Arib Ahmed, who acted as a guide for the JeM group.

Evidence recovered, including Pakistani currency and mobile phones, confirmed direct involvement of handlers across the border, with interrogation revealing coordination by Pakistan Army officers. Such interdictions have disrupted attempts to replenish militant ranks and smuggle arms into Indian territory.

The crackdown has also extended into the digital domain. Counter Intelligence Kashmir, working with national agencies, dismantled a Pakistan-backed cyber jihad cell led by Jaish handler Abdullah Ghazi.

Operating from a safehouse in Pakistan, Ghazi ran a sophisticated online recruitment and radicalisation ecosystem, targeting vulnerable Kashmiri youth through encrypted apps and proxy identities. Advanced geo-tracking and surveillance enabled Indian agencies to expose and neutralise this digital module, marking the fifth such network dismantled in recent years.

This has curtailed Pakistan’s reliance on cyber-radicalisation as a substitute for dwindling local recruitment.

Since the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, the operational landscape in Jammu and Kashmir has shifted significantly. Data indicates that thirty terrorists have been neutralised in nineteen counter-terror operations, with security forces dictating the tempo rather than reacting to militant offensives.

The absence of sustained terrorist-initiated attacks from Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e-Mohammed underscores the disruption of their operational capabilities. The tightening of the counter-terror grid has ensured that encounters are now driven by state action, reflecting both tactical effectiveness and strategic deterrence.

The combined impact of these measures has forced militants into hiding, reduced their ability to communicate with handlers in Pakistan, and dismantled both physical and digital infrastructure supporting terrorism.

The neutralisation of commanders, foiling of infiltration attempts, and exposure of cyber jihad cells collectively represent a major blow to Pakistan-backed terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Security agencies believe these successes will have enduring effects, weakening militant morale and preventing the reconstitution of their operational strength.

Indian Army Neutralises Lashkar Terrorist In Krishna Ghati Sector Infiltration Bid

The Indian Army has foiled a major infiltration attempt in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch, killing one infiltrator suspected to be linked to Lashkar‑e‑Taiba.

The operation was carried out by the Nagrota‑based White Knight Corps, which detected suspicious movement 300 metres inside Indian territory and swiftly neutralised the threat. Search operations are ongoing as authorities believe more infiltrators may have been part of the group.

The infiltration attempt occurred around four in the afternoon when surveillance systems picked up unusual movement near the Line of Control in the Krishna Ghati sector, south of the Pir Panjal range. Troops of the White Knight Corps responded immediately, engaging the infiltrators and eliminating one individual.

The Army confirmed that the intruder was neutralised before any breach of the Line of Control could take place. The incident highlights the continued vigilance of Indian forces in this sensitive sector.

Officials revealed that the infiltrator was suspected to be associated with Lashkar‑e‑Taiba and was attempting to cross near the Bicho Post in Mankote. The Army has cordoned off the area and deployed additional troops, drones, and surveillance equipment to ensure that no other infiltrators remain hidden in the forested terrain.

The ongoing search operation reflects the seriousness with which the Army treats such attempts, especially given the possibility of multiple operatives being involved.

This infiltration bid comes at a time when attempts are usually low, but handlers across the border are reportedly desperate to push more terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir. The shortage of operatives follows recent encounters in Poonch, Rajouri, and Kishtwar, where several militants were eliminated.

The Army has emphasised that every infiltration bid will fail, reiterating its commitment to maintaining strict vigilance along the Line of Control.

The White Knight Corps issued a strong message on social media, declaring, “Every infiltration bid will fail. We serve, we protect.” This statement underscores the operational readiness of Indian forces and their determination to prevent any disruption of peace in the region. The Army continues to dominate the area and has reinforced its surveillance grid with hi‑tech equipment to counter infiltration attempts.

Recent months have seen a series of similar incidents along the Line of Control. On 10 March this year, troops gunned down a Pakistani terrorist and injured another in Rajouri’s Jhangar area.

Earlier, infiltration attempts were foiled in Bhimber Gali and Sunderbani sectors, while in December last year, the Border Security Force arrested a Jaish‑e‑Mohammed operative in Akhnoor with a large cache of arms. These repeated attempts demonstrate the persistent efforts of Pakistan‑based groups to infiltrate operatives, despite heavy losses.

Security analysts note that infiltration attempts in Krishna Ghati and adjoining sectors are part of a broader strategy by Pakistan‑based handlers to revive militant activity in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, India’s counter‑infiltration grid, strengthened after Operation Sindoor last year, has ensured that such bids are detected and neutralised swiftly. The Army’s ability to intercept infiltrators deep inside Indian territory reflects the effectiveness of its surveillance and rapid response mechanisms.

The incident also highlights the importance of continued vigilance in sectors like Poonch and Rajouri, which have historically been vulnerable to infiltration due to their terrain and proximity to Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir.

The Army’s proactive measures, including aerial surveillance and deployment of additional troops, are aimed at ensuring that no gaps remain in the security grid.
